Job Profile:
Under the overall supervision of the North East Syria GBV Sub-Working Group Coordinator and in close collaboration with
Whole Of Syria IM Specialist and GBV Coordinator, the NES GBV SWG IMO is responsible for leading, maintaining and
strengthening the NES GBV Sub-Working Group Information Management functions, as well as coordinating with the NES
Protection Sector and other relevant stakeholder on information products. When relevant, the NES GBV SWG IMO will also
support the integration of GBV across multi-sector response through the participation at the InterSector Working Group
Information Management Group. Improved information management is a key component of the Humanitarian Programme
Cycle and plays fundamental role to contribute to elaborating programme strategies and humanitarian funding strategies, to
mainstreaming of GBV in other sectors, to engaging in advocacy and to developing situation reports. The NES GBV SWG IMO
is therefore a relevant team member towards a coordinated. approach to GBV response.
Essential criteria
♦ BA in social sciences, (e.g. humanitarian affairs, political science, development studies,
♦ demography or a related field), or the equivalent combination of education and experience in a related area.
♦ 4 years of professional experience in IM or M&E for the humanitarian sector, including secondary data reviews, 3/4/5W reporting, gap analysis, etc.
♦ Previous experience in GBV data analysis to support assessments, service mapping and the development of referral pathways
♦ Familiarity with MS Excel, MS PowerBI, desktop publishing software, basic website management and data collection applications (Kobo or ODK).
♦ Professional experience with GBV or any other aspect of protection in emergencies, including demonstrated understanding of monitoring and evaluation (M&E).
♦ Demonstrated understanding of the survivor-centered approach to GBV programming,
♦ particularly in the context of information management (i.e. GBVIMS training).
♦ Knowledge of the Cluster Approach and the Transformative Agenda systems and procedures
♦ Good knowledge of humanitarian principles and standards, as well as organizational policies.
♦ Knowledge of the humanitarian architecture.
♦ Highly adaptable and able to cope with pressure, integrity, transparency, and strong work ethics.
Desirable criteria
♦ Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into concise, effective resources for decision making and advocacy purposes.
♦ Strong interest and motivation for inter-agency coordination.
♦ Flexibility, diplomacy, leadership, cultural sensitivity and the ability to work well both alone and in teams.
Language skills
♦ Good command of spoken and written English and Arabic is required
Responsibilities
Responsibilities
♦ In collaboration with national and international GBV actors and Protection coordinators and IM, develop online service mapping and referral tools
♦ Ensure sub-Cluster partners provide timely, consistent and compatible data and information on 4W.
♦ Provide support, mentoring and capacity building on 4Ws to new members
♦ Analyze 4Ws data and develop monthly report formats that capture relevant information that support program progress and provide monthly data to OCHA
♦ Train and support partners on service mapping and information sharing protocol
♦ Develop and update referral pathways on a quarterly basis
♦ Support the GBV SC risk mitigation actions, especially for what concerns the improvement of two ways referrals
♦ Support the WOS GBV IMO in the Syria GBV Humanitarian Needs Overview, supporting on NES hub data analysis
♦ Document best practices and approaches for responding to issues of GBV in order to deepen the knowledge base among relevant partners.
♦ Provide information management and data analysis of the GBV Syria Humanitarian response Plan
♦ Prepare regular analytical reports on emerging issues.
♦ Ensure application of appropriate information technology for maintenance of Sub-Working Group partner lists and archiving information
♦ Promote the use of inter operable technologies and best practices among cluster partners
♦ Engage in robust analyses of secondary data to ensure readily available information on known trends and patterns on GBV for inclusion at relevant points along the Humanitarian Programme Cycle.
Knowledge Sharing and Communications
♦ Ensure appropriate knowledge sharing with donors, media and with all strategic partners is effectively promoted. Preparing hub specific dashboards and one pagers
♦ Work closely with the NES Protection IMO and Whole of Syria GBV IMO to ensure information flowing systems are strong and data management is harmonized.
♦ Ensure gender and age disaggregated data and inputs relevant to the GBV Sub-Working Group are provided.
♦ Ensure effective communication and networking through partnership and collaboration; as well as help strengthen coordination amongst GBV partners.
