Job Profile:
Under the supervision of the Senior Medical Commodities officer (Sr MCO), the Pharmacist Officer plays a critical
role in ensuring the effective management of medical commodities within healthcare facilities ensuring quality and
safety. He/she is responsible for ensuring medical commodities storage conditions adhere to international
standards and regulatory guidelines. His/her duties will encompass maintaining accurate records, overseeing
procurement and inventory management, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize drug
therapy.
Person Specification:
Essential criteria
• Minimum a recognized Pharmacy diploma/degree from an accredited Pharmacy Faculty.
• Minimum of 1 years of experience required.
• Previous INGO experience is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Arabic are essential.
• Good English language skills is mandatory.
• Will have excellent self-motivation skills.
• very good level in Microsoft excel (Mandatory).
Desirable criteria
Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
• Comfortable working in resource-deprived environment.
• Good stamina to stand and work for long hours.
• Adaptable and capable of working well under pressure.
• Ability to work in a team setting, as well as independently without supervision.
• A strong propensity for flexibility, teamwork, and creative thinking will be essential to
this job
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities:
Technical supervision
• Conduct Hf visits and pharmacy and consumption of drugs and consumables for all health facilities under
current grants
• Supervise pharmacist and dispensers on daily basis to ensure adherence to establish standards including
temperature and humidity recording, updating of consumption trackers and stock monitoring tools
• Train dispensers and HF medical workers on functioning of new devices and equipment eg blood pressure
machines, Hemoglobinometers
• Conduct regular HF supportive supervision visits using monthly and Quarterly pharmacist checklist and
compile reports and share with line manager.
Pharmaceutical Stock management
• Analyze prescription trends to monitor patient compliance and prevent excessive and irrational usage of
drugs.
• Prepare distribution plans timely according to consumption and follow up processes to timely dispatch
pharmaceutical commodities to supported HFs.
• Conduct regular HFs monitoring visits to ensure that good dispensing practices following the FEFO,
instituting appropriate measures to 0% expiration of drugs in supported health care facilities eg drug
rotation to HF with higher consumption using internal waybill.
• Prepare distribution plan for all Nutrition commodities to nutrition clinics in coordination with Sr Nutrition
Officer.
• Maintain and manage the sub-WHs under at the Health facilities.
• Report any drugs defects noticed in the HFs to line manager with pictures and drug information (expiry
date, batch No, manufacturer,...,etc.)

Coordination
• Collaborate with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, or evaluate the quality and
effectiveness of the drug regimens
• Maintain daily communication with HF pharmacists/dispensers and address day to day concerns affecting
services delivery,
• Coordinate with WH team, to ensure zero difference between requested shipment (stock release) and
inventory according to Waybill.
• participate in inventory committee that conduct annual, semi annual inventories for supply chain WHs.
• participate in medical commodities receiving committee as a technical member to check and approve the
shipment items.
• Participate in destruction committee, which is responsible to destruct the expired drugs and consumables
according to RI guidelines.
• Participate in integrated HF staff monthly meetings and share minutes on MoM with clear actions and
timelines for developed actions to address gaps
• Participate effectively in weekly and ad hoc meetings for NES program staff for direct feedback /
discussion.
• Response to any requested task from line manager.
Reporting and documentation
• Update all pharma consumption trackers and analysis of all supported HFs daily, weekly and monthly
• Prepare and submit water borne disease report
• Submit monthly and quarterly pharmacist check list
• Maintain and update HF pharmacy records such as pharmacy files, inventories, narcotics, and controlled
drugs, temperature and humidity sheet, stock releases and waybills.
Training and capacity building
• Assess training needs of the pharmacists/dispenser and share with the health department for appropriate
planning
• Conduct training for pharmacists according to identified gaps/needs
• Attend training provided internally by RI or external sources by other partners.
