Location: NES - Deir-ez-Zor \ Jazaret Elbuhmeid
Reporting to: Roving Protection Coordinator
Direct reports: Social Assistant (x1), PSS Assistant (x1)

Job Profile:
Under the supervision of the Protection Coordinator (roving), the Protection Officer will support the
development, organization and supervision of protection (GBV and PSS) activities in one protection unit
(PU). She will manage and supervise social assistants and PSS assistants, and provide technical
support to facilitators, community mobilizers as per the need. She will also liaise with local community
groups and INGOs present in the catchment area to ensure the effective provision of protection
services and maintain the safety and integrity of project operations particularly as they relate to
beneficiaries.


Person Specification:
This position will require a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a demanding and fast-paced
environment.
Essential criteria
• Law, social work, human rights, sociology, psychology or another similar degree/diploma;
• 2 years’ relevant experience with NGOs and/or INGOs in protection sector;
• Experience in working with women and girls from hard-to-reach locations inside NES
• Knowledge on GBV prevention and response activities including case management, awareness sessions
and PSS
activities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Arabic
• Adaptable and capable of working well under pressure;
• Ability to work in a team setting, as well as independently without supervision
• Comfortable working in resource-deprived environment
Desirable criteria
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English desirable

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities:
Program Planning and Implementation

• Responsible for making on-the-ground decisions regarding community mobilization and awareness-
raising

sessions
• Provide administrative support to the field team and supervise daily operations to ensure quality service
delivery
• Plan, organize, and implement protection activities, with a focus on GBV, including community
awareness
sessions, mobilization activities, risk mapping, and updating referral pathways.
• Develop and facilitate capacity building activities on protection, especially GBV, for both RI protection

and non-
protection staff and external partners.

• Implement awareness raising activities, life skills activities, and other initiatives under the supervision of
the
Protection Technical team in Amman.
• Provide innovative solutions to logistical challenges and coordinate closely with the logistics team to
manage
supplies and resources effectively.

Community Engagement and Mobilization
• Support the development of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials and community
mobilization tools to promote participation and engagement of women, girls, boys, and men.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including partner agencies,
community
leaders, and service providers.
Staff Management and Supervision
• Manage and provide administrative support to Social Assistants, PSS Assistants, Community Mobilizers,
Facilitators, and other indirect staff to ensure quality service delivery.
• Supervise daily administrative operations, including vehicle movements, and coordinate with the logistics
team
to ensure prompt ordering and stocking of supplies.
• Develop and facilitate capacity-building activities for a diverse audience, including both protection and

non-
protection staff.

Coordination and Reporting
• Represent RI in sector-relevant coordination meetings as requested by the Supervisor
• Collaborate with other RI team members to support the mainstreaming of protection in Health programs.
• Report weekly and monthly achievements and challenges in writing to the supervisor
Data Management and Protection
• Ensure proper documentation and secure storage of protection data, including case management and
attendance sheets, coordinating with the Protection IM officer for quality data management.
• Support the regular collection and analysis of gender and protection information for effective
program/project
design and monitoring.
• Engage with the M&E team to develop and implement appropriate M&E plans for protection activities.
• Support and ensure the collection and analysis of complete and up-to-date gender and protection
information
for program monitoring.
