Requirements

Recruitment Qualifications
Education: Degree from an accredited college/university in Sociology, Psychology, Social Services, Public Administration, Communications, or any related field
Experience: 1 years of volunteer or paid work experience with community organizations, schools, or working with prevention and/or education programs.
Language Requirements: Arabic (fluent)
Functional/Technical Competencies:
♦ Preferably resident of Project Area.
♦ Excellent networking and coordination skills.
♦ Professional level in Arabic & English language skills (preferable).
♦ Excellent reporting and formal writing skills in Arabic and English (preferable)
Responsibilities
The crisis in Syria has entered its tenth year with little prospects for imminent end to violence that is faced on daily basis and impact the lives and exacerbate the vulnerability of children, women, the elderly, and the disabled.
In addition, the widespread displacement and deterioration of life conditions have negatively influenced the social and economic fabric of Syria.
As a response to the emerging needs of the Syrian population, and in line with the overall framework of the Syria Humanitarian Response Plan, Strategic Framework for Syria and UNDP Country Programe Document, UNDP Syria is working on enabling Local economic recovery and livelihoods for vulnerable populations through inclusive private sector recovery and development, human capital development and pro-poor market interventions; enabling Local-level support for social protection/cohesion, gender equity and sustaining peace enabled; and developing Responsive, accountable and transparent local governance systems
The project will build its activities based on local needs to promote awareness of mine risks among local communities in Al-Hassakeh Governorate
The Outreach Specialist will be recruited, through a third-party contract, to support the implementation of UNDP activities on Social Cohesion and Local Development / HLP in the field. Outreach Specialist is expected to conduct the project awareness campaigns in the governorate efficiently and timely with direct supervision of area manager for administrative and context technical content and technical supervision and regular guidance.
The Outreach Specialist is expected to work and coordinate closely with project Manager & SC&LD focal point / personnel in the field office to ensure maximum efficiency, timely reporting and efficient coordination.
Key functions and responsibilities
♦ Managing discussions and organizing the local community to deliver the project message to the largest possible number of targeted people.
♦ Able to understand and receive information related to the topic of awareness and transfer it to the targeted groups.
♦ Capable of dealing with sensitive social context and able to manage conflicts.
♦ Provide information and referrals regarding activities, services and resources available through the department or within the community;
♦ Develop and prepare well-written materials and professional presentations.
♦ Works with awareness providers and other partners and community members to promote awareness of the dangers of mines among local communities in Al-Hassakeh Governorate.
♦ Organizes community events (rallies, conferences, special events and other activities as needed);
♦ Uses complex multi-image equipment for presentations and may assist in the development of media and outreach material.
♦ Develops and maintains positive public and community relations; Plans develop and implements countywide conferences as needed
♦ Assists with the development of program goals and policies consistent with statewide efforts;
♦ Participate and/or conduct needs assessment analysis to identify community outreach needs;
♦ Prepares written progress and evaluation reports and statistics for granting/funding agencies and department or county managers as needed;
♦ Helps in the development and implementation of task force and committee agendas and minutes;
♦ oversees interns and other volunteers;
♦ perform different essential or marginal functions depending upon work location, assignment, or shift.
Scope of work
The Project Manager will be directly supervised by the Social Cohesion focal point and will receive regular guidance from the area Manager to fulfil the following specific objectives:
♦ Assist in Coordination and Networking at field level.
♦ Project activities implementation and monitoring.
How to apply:
♦ This position is with ICI for the benefit of UNDP Aman project in AL Hassakeh (Tal Hamis- Tal Birak- Al-Hole- Al-Shaddadeh).
♦ Expected Places of Travel: All the Governorate.
♦ Candidates with more than 3 months Third Party Personnel contract validity, will not be eligible to apply for this position.
♦ Duration and Type of Assignment: 5 months.
