Requirements
The ideal candidate will have an environmental health background and experience in Implementing water and sanitation for health facilities such as cholera treatment centers and disease-specific treatment units. “Highly desired criteria” include previous work in WASH at health facilities level and knowledge of infection control and prevention.
♦ Minimum university degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Health Sciences, Nursing, Medical Degree, or another related field.
♦ At least 3 years’ experience working in WASH in Health Facilities, Health programming or, field epidemiology within emergency settings.
Desirable: expertise in infection prevention and control, within healthcare settings or in the context of outbreaks.
♦ Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of IPC and/or Healthcare Waste Management
♦ Ability to report on the rapid IPC infrastructural and operational analysis of designated health facilities. This should include infrastructure, supplies need, capacity, staffing needs and training, coordination, diversion of non-essential staff, supplies, equipment, etc.
♦ Preparation of regular reports documenting all activities including gaps and recommendations.
♦ Ability to live and work in stressful environment.
♦ Excellent initiator and able to manage multiple tasks.
♦ Able to work under pressure and good at timely decision making.
♦ Competent in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel as well as online platforms such as zoom, teams, etc.
♦ Knowledge and/or experience in conflict management, protection, or another related field.
♦ Excellent professional approach and strong team building skills.
♦ Good English and Arabic are required
Responsibilities
- Implement rapid IPC infrastructural and operational analysis of isolation and treatment centers and designated health facilities in line with organization Standard Operating Procedures for Health facilities,
- Propose and support implementation of necessary adaptations leading to compliance in line with the national standards.
- Build capacity of front-line health care workers in IPC and WASH through daily mentoring.
- Strengthen overall IPC competencies at health facilities and partner organizations through training of practitioners and support staff in IPC and Health Care Waste Management and assessing isolation units’ readiness. This will also include use of online platforms to deliver these trainings (zoom, google hang- out, etc.).
- In consultation with the Risk communication and Community Engagement pillar, develop timely messages on IPC to be disseminated to the community.
- Actively participate in the IPC committees and take leading role to better respond to the outbreak.
- Conduct IPC infrastructure assessment in newly developed COVID-19 identified isolation and treatment centers and existing health facilities as assigned.
- Lead on EH/IPC COVID-19 IPC materials and supply procurement plan.
- Contribute to revision of SOPs, guidelines, and standards on IPC for COVID-19 response
- Participate in WASH and Health Sector technical working groups and meetings regarding development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), trainings, coordination and policies on issues of infection control and patient safety guidelines.
- Ensure all programs meet standards; making recommendations on upgrading facilities and procedures as needed.
- Submission of weekly activity plans and end of week update reports
- Perform any task provided by health manager.
