Requirements
Essential:
♦ Bachelor’s degree in social work, development/psychology, sociology or other relevant field.
♦ At least one year’ experience preferably in protection, or working with vulnerable families, caregivers, communities and individuals.
♦ Experience and/or excellent understanding of human rights, GBV, psychosocial support, women empowerment and youth development
♦ Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours and spend time in the field, sometimes in difficult conditions and with limited resources, and with remote technical management.
♦ Proficiency in computer use including Microsoft Office and Excel.
♦ Good knowledge about of the Al-Hassakeh/Deir-ez-Zor governorates and context.
Preferred:
♦ Knowledge of English conversation is preferable
Responsibilities
♦ Ensure the organization and the implementation of all protection monitoring activities at field level in accordance with the agreed Workplan (under the supervision of the Protection Officer) and the international standards, including preparation of various protection monitoring exercises, data collection through methodologies such as surveyd, KIIs, FGDs and observation, and implementation of possible corrective measures to reduce protection risks at community level
♦ Under the supervision of the Protection officer, draft protection reports (weekly, monthly, ad hoc)
♦ Liaise regularly with local communities and key stakeholders to ensure effective communication and mitigate risks associated with monitoring activities at community level
♦ Conduct needs and programmatic assessments in targeted locations
♦ Promote and support access to services of protection cases in the camps and host communities with technical support from the line managers and protection technical team based in Amman.
♦ Refer protection cases to partner agencies after having secured informed consent/assent and seek to solicit services for them.
♦ Ensure all protection activities and cases are individually documented, filed and up to date in Kobo.
♦ Engage with communities directly and create awareness on identified protection concerns related with human rights, child protection, GBV, among others
♦ Train community members, and other stakeholders on protection topics
♦ Identify protection trends and bring them to the attention of the line manager for action planning
♦ Document all protection activities on Kobo, ensure data is cleaned and available on a timely manner
♦ Liaise with security focal point and area manager to remain updated on the security situation in target locations at all times.
♦ Provide detailed updates of activities within your designated field site.
♦ Any other tasks requested by the line manager
