Requirements
Compulsory:
1. A university degree Psychology or Sociology and/or a proven experience for 2 years in a similar position.
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Arabic are essential.
3. Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality.
4. A strong propensity for flexibility, teamwork, and creative thinking will be essential to this job.
5. Good stamina to stand and work for long hours.
6. Adaptable and capable of working well under pressure.
7. Ability to work in a team setting as well as independently without supervision.
Desirable:
♦ Previous medical or INGO experience is preferred.
♦ Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
♦ Good English language skills preferred.
Responsibilities
1. Counsel patients in individual or group sessions to assist them in dealing with substance abuse, mental Counsel or physical illness, poverty, unemployment, or physical abuse.
2. Interview clients, review records, conduct assessments, or confer with other professionals to evaluate the mental or physical condition of patients.
3. Collaborate with MHPSS officer, counselors, physicians, or nurses to plan or coordinate treatment, drawing on social work experience and patient needs.
4. Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress with respect to treatment goals.
5. Educate clients or community members about mental or physical illness, abuse, medication, or available community resources.
6. Assist clients in adhering to treatment plans, such as setting up appointments, arranging for transportation to appointments, or providing support.
7. Refer patient, client, or family to community resources for housing or treatment to assist in recovery from mental or physical illness, following through to ensure service efficacy.
8. Modify treatment plans according to changes in client status.
9. Counsel or aid family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, or supporting the patient.
10. Supervise or direct other workers who provide services to patients.
11. Plan or conduct programs to prevent substance abuse, combat social problems, or improve health or counseling services in community.
12. Develop or advise on social policy or assist in community development.
13. Any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.
