Overall Purpose of the Job

Watchmen (unarmed) are responsible for the safety and security of organization personnel at Hassakeh base, 24 hours a day, 7 day a week.  They operate in 2 shifts over a 24 hour period either at the Guest House / Office in Hassakeh city or at the ‘Farm’ Operational Base, completeing one 24 hour cycle every three days.

Reporting structure

The Watchmen report to the Security and Access Officer (SAO) during the hours 0800 – 1600. Outside of these hours, the CSM/BM or relevant Security Focal Point will be informed.  

Detailed Responsibilities

♦ The protection and security of our personnel and any other person in their charge.

♦ The security and protection from damage of all property, vehicles and equipment.

♦ Ensuring a secure cordon around  personnel, premises, vehicles and equipment.

♦ Ensuring that unauthorised personnel, vehicles, are checked prior to entering the worksite to ensure that they do not pose any threat to personnel or property.

♦ Coordinating with the SAO, CSM and BM to inform of any visitors, and checking that the visitor is welcome before allowing them into the work site.

♦ Reporting any suspicious activity to the SAO.

♦ Being alert at all times during their shift.

♦ Being at their place of duty throughout their shift.

♦ Being immediately available when having meal or rest breaks.

♦ If required, travelling to and remaining in other locations.

♦ Roving foot patrols as detailed by the SAO with support from the CSM

♦ Follow and assist contingency plans.

♦ Following the directions of the SAO with support from the CSM

♦ Other duties as directed, in accordance with project requirements.
