Education / Experience Needed
Minimum certificate in nursing, nutrition, or similar health field required
Two years experience working for an NGO in health care
Minimum 2 years working in nutrition specialty required, with strong preference given to those whose experience is with OTP/TSFP programming
Language English, strongly preferred Kurdish, required Arabic, required
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical demands will be dependent upon situation and event, but will likely include full days work in villages and/or IDP camps. An employee should be prepared to work outdoors, on their feet for long hours with limited or no access to climate control units.
Responsibilities
Nutrition/TSFP Nurse will implement quality health and nutrition activities at any one of five (5) Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) sites in the Hassakeh Governorate. The Nutrition/TSFP Nurse will work under the supervision of the Nutrition Program Coordinator (NPC) and in collaboration with the Nutrition Team to ensure the adequate and quality management of moderate acute malnutrition cases among children from 6 to 59 months and pregnant and lactating women, and uncomplicated severe acute malnutrition cases among children 6 to 59 months in respect to the IMAM guidelines and Organization standards.
The Nutrition/TSFP Nurse must be a mature, experienced professional, capable of critical thinking, problem solving, experienced in providing detailed physical assessments, attuned to changes in physical status, evaluating clinical progression, capable of making decisions to refer patients to in-patient care, and scheduling and coordination of beneficiary consultations with the necessary specialists. This position requires thorough understanding of the pathophysiology of malnutrition and appropriate treatments. The Nutrition/TSFP Nurse is a prominent position on the nutrition team, and requires an individual with a kind, approachable demeanor who is organized, professional, and experienced in providing nutrition education counselling to beneficiaries. The Nutrition/TSFP Nurse will communicate closely with the HPC, Organization Nutrition Program colleagues, and other health actors. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are required to excel in this role. This position requires commitment and understanding of Organization Mission and Statement of Faith, as well as agreement and compliance with the organization’s statement of faith and policies.
Hours: 40+ hours/wk

Technical
Has an excellent working understanding of NES treatment protocols and policies. Provides physical assessments of beneficiaries, subsequently placing them into the appropriate treatment regimen Diploma in nutrition or health with minimum two years working experience with NGOs. Working experience of one year in IMAM program or PHC program. Experience in health and nutrition programs. Good relations with other people. Good capacity to work in a team and flexibility. Good interpersonal and communication skills Good writing and presentation skills English fluency (verbal and written) strongly preferred. Fluency in Kurdish and Arabic required.
Experience working in a refugee context. Staff Management – Not a supervisory role Security – Adhere to organization security management plan Report any security incidents or concerns to HPM or security personnel immediately Communication and Coordination – Interpret as necessary between Arabic/Local language and English for the HPM and other organization staff. Coordinate and Liaise with members of the organization health management team and organizationOperations Team to ensure all objectives of the nutrition program are met.
