Education / Experience Needed
♦ Certificate in nursing, nutrition, or similar health field strongly preferred
♦ Experience with data entry strongly preferred
♦ Fluency in Microsoft Office Programs required
♦ Two years experience working for an NGO in health care
♦ Minimum 2 years working in nutrition specialty required, with strong preference given to those whose experience is with OTP/TSFP programming
Language
♦ English, strongly preferred
♦ Kurdish, required
♦Arabic, required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Responsibilities
Job Summary
Nutrition Assistant will implement quality health and nutrition activities at any one of Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) and Outpatient Therapeutic Feeding Program (OTP) sites in the Hassakeh and Dier ez-Zor Governorates. The Nutrition Assistant will work under the supervision of the Nutrition Program Coordinator (NPC) and in collaboration with the Nutrition Team to ensure the adequate and quality management of moderate acute malnutrition cases among children from 6 to 59 months and pregnant and lactating women, and uncomplicated severe acute malnutrition cases among children 6 to 59 months in respect to the IMAM guidelines and our standards.
The Nutrition Assistant must be a mature, experienced professional, capable of critical thinking, problem solving, experienced in providing physical assessments, attuned to changes in physical status and evaluating clinical progression. This position requires thorough understanding of the of Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) guidelines.
The Nutrition Assistant will assist with crowd control, beneficiary registration, MUAC and z-score collection, data management, IYCF education, and other activities to support the team. This position requires an individual with a kind, approachable demeanor who is organized, professional, and experienced in critical thinking. The Nutrition Assistant will communicate closely with the HPC, ourNutrition Program colleagues, and other health actors. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are required to excel in this role. This position requires commitment and understanding of our Mission and Statement of Faith, as well as agreement and compliance with our statement of faith and policies.
Hours:
40+ hours/wk
Key Responsibilities
General-
♦ Uphold the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence.

♦ Be prepared to work within rural villages, IDP Camps, and PHC locations in Hassakeh Governorate, and to relocate at short notice.
♦ Work closely with all members of the health team to provide the highest possible quality of care for beneficiaries.
♦ Treat all beneficiaries and their relatives with respect and dignity.
♦ Maintain confidentiality for all beneficiaries.
Technical-
♦ Has an excellent working understanding of NES treatment protocols and policies.
♦ Provides physical assessments of beneficiaries, collecting MUAC and Z-scores
♦ Diploma in nutrition or health with minimum two years working experience with NGOs
♦ Can act as crowd control and IYCF educator
♦ Experience in health and nutrition programs.
♦ Good relations with other people.
♦ Good capacity to work in a team and flexibility.
♦ Good interpersonal and communication skills
♦ Good writing and presentation skills
♦ English fluency (verbal and written) strongly preferred. Fluency in Kurdish and Arabic required.
♦ Experience working in a refugee context.
Staff Management –
♦ Not a supervisory role
Security -
♦ Adhere to our security management plan
♦ Report any security incidents or concerns to HPM or security personnel immediately
Communication and Coordination -
♦ Interpret as necessary between Arabic/Local language and English for the HPM and other our staff.
♦ Coordinate and Liaise with members of the our health management team and our Operations Team to ensure all objectives of the nutrition program are met.
