Education / Experience Needed
• Must have relevant agricultural experience including in the areas of green fodder cultivation (clover, barley, corn), agriculture development, irrigation systems for farming including drip-line irrigation and water wells functionality, agricultural distributions, and livestock nutrition.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture or other related area of study is preferred but not required.
• Work experience with INGO’s is preferred but not required.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel is preferred but not required.
LANGUAGE
Arabic required; Kurdish and English are preferred.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities
Job Summary
The Agriculture Assistant will be responsible to support the Livestock Officer in the implementation of Organization Green Alternative Sustainable Fodder Program (GRASP) in NES. S/he will spend 80% of time in villages throughout the program area providing agricultural trainings and demonstrating best practices with drip-line irrigation systems and cultivation of green fodder crops including clover, barley, and corn. S/he will also support with agricultural distributions of dry fodder rations. S/he will participate in surveys and assessments to select beneficiaries and monitor the successful implementation of the program. S/he will make frequent field visits to beneficiary villages to provide hands-on agricultural technical support. The agriculture assistant will also participate in other relevant ORGANIZATION programming work assigned to him/her.
Job Duties:
• Mobilize and identify farmers within the program area to engage in green fodder cultivation.
• Conduct baseline/endline surveys with farmers in the program area.
• Facilitate agricultural trainings and demonstrate best practices with irrigation systems for the cultivation of green fodder crops including clover, barley, and corn as per the project needs and design.
• Support with agricultural distribution of green fodder and irrigation materials as well as dry fodder rations.
• Provide technical guidance to farmers on drip irrigation and other farm water management practices in response to the drought within NES.
• Empower farmers to understand the importance of the green fodder drought-resistance crops to improve resiliency to future drought conditions.
• Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Livestock Program Manager or Livestock Officer.
