Responsibilities
Job Summary
The physical therapist assistant (PTA) would work directly with beneficiaries in their homes to complete the physical therapy exercises prescribed to them by the physical therapist. ORGANIZATION’s CWD program targets disabled individuals under the age 18 of living in IDP camps and host communities. Non-ideal housing and limited resources add additional challenges to children with disabilities in this camp who often struggle to complete activities of daily living (ADL’s) and complete mobility exercises. The PTA would work with the PT to help children and their caregivers to find creative solutions to ADL and exercise challenges. The PTA will assist the PT to complete and maintain records of their visit with each beneficiary and report these to the HPC on a weekly and monthly basis.
Hours:
Full-time: approximately 40 +hours/week working with PT
Key Organizational Responsibilities
General-
Uphold the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence.
Respect the Organization’s values at all times, both within and outside of working hours.
Be prepared to work in IDP camps and host communities in Al-Hasakeh Governorate and to work outside for long hours while educating the local community.
Be prepared to work with children with mental and physical disabilities and their caregivers.
Work closely with all members of the health team to provide the highest possible quality of care.
Treat all beneficiaries and their relatives with respect and dignity.
Maintain confidentiality for all beneficiaries.
Technical-
Provide training and facilitation on physical therapy treatments to beneficiaries under the supervision of the PT
Lead group conversations about newly-introduced mental health and disability-related topics
Assist in identifying key health, nutrition, and hygiene messages needed to improve the health status of disabled IDP children and their caregivers, together with the PC and other health program staff
Encourage respect for ideas voiced during facilitation
Submit timely weekly and monthly reports on activities and progress to the PC.
Act as a liaison between the Organization and beneficiaries to communicate key information to relevant communities and facilitate meetings as necessary.
Assist in assessment of health status, knowledge and practice of health promoting behaviours amongst communities served by the Organization.
Security -
▪ Adhere to Organization security management plan
▪ Maintain confidentiality of patient records at all times
▪ Report any issues regarding workplace practices to appropriate Manager.
Communication and Coordination -
▪ Attend weekly all staff meetings, when possible
▪ Work closely with PC to ensure that work is carried out to a high standard
▪ Ensure that all paperwork is completed in an accurate and timely manner in compliance with Organization and donor requirements
